Granola

A healthy breakfast

“Granola” aka “crunchy muesli” is a nice breakfast alternative. Unfortunately buying granola in the supermarket is pretty expensive and usually contains a lot of sugar. The good news is that making your own, healthy granola is not complicated at all. Just try the following, very simple recipe.

What you need

  • 500 gr oat meal (for more crunch use the coarse ones)

  • About 6 tablespoons of vegetable oil (e.g. coconut oil)

  • About 6 tablespoons of honey, agave nectar or another sweetener of your choice

  • Raisins, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, pecans, coconut flakes, ...

The sky is the limit, choose additional ingredients that ensure you the best start to your day!

How to make it

Put the oat meal in a big pan and toast everything a little bit. If you use nuts, seeds etc. you can already add them now. If you want to also add berries, best add them at the very end. Stir frequently and be careful not to burn it.

Mix the vegetable oil and the sweetener together and add it to the oat meal. Stir well to make sure that the mixture gets on all the oat meal. The more sweetener and oil you use the crunchier it gets. When the oat meal has a nice colour and smell, take it from the stove.

Once the granola is cold you can add any other ingredients you want and store it.

Enjoy your granola, maybe with some yoghurt and fresh fruit... yummy!
